The generous gift provided by The TD Canada Trust, in conjunction with Tree of Hope and Landmark Centre, allowed The Bridge to launch its new "Bridging the Gap" Counselling and Parent Education Sponsorship Fund, to focus on its key strategic direction of providing open access counselling and parent education to all families in the Central Okanagan. The Bridging the Gap fund benefits children, youth and parents in the Central Okanagan.
The Kelowna Women’s Shelter would like to express our appreciation for the generous support received from the Tree of Hope campaign and for the difference made in the lives of children and their mothers who have utilized these funds to assist them to deal effectively with their experiences of trauma and to move forward to a better future.
The Tree of Hope is a shining example of the desire and the courage we have, as community, to Reach Out and help those most in need. To be chosen as one of two charities to benefit from the Tree of Hope Campaign in 2011 was a great privilege! The generous financial contribution enabled Reach Out to expand counselling programs and develop an Outreach Program to benefit youth in the community.
Many of the children that attend the Club Arion Program at Arion Therapeutic Farm have difficulties making friends at school and get limited physical activity outside of our program. The donation from the Tree of Hope allowed Arion Therapeutic Farm to run the Life Skill Day/Afterschool Program at an affordable cost to families and gave children with special needs opportunities for personal growth and life skill development. For this we thank you!
Through the generous support from the Tree of Hope, the partnership between Crime Stoppers and Fit4Defense is a remarkable success! The Tree of Hope funded the Fit4Defense Project which targeted youth in Kelowna area schools. This helped establish the program, increase community partnerships and expand initiatives towards older adults and families. Their support provided Fit4Defense classes for over 2000 youth, trained 16 new instructors and participated in 10 community events.
The Tree of Hope funding has allowed us to reach hundreds of students with our character building, leadership and relational aggression programs. The funds have also given us the opportunity raise our profile in the community, to train more facilitators, develop an assembly program with follow-up sessions on choices and values for middle school students, and create attractive take-home materials for those who participate in our programs. We are very grateful for the funding the Tree of Hope has provided.
